Have you set your phone down long enough to look around and realize how much we all are on our phones? I feel like every family function I attend this subject is brought up by my parents. Having an iPhone I get weekly alerts about my screen time but to be honest, I ignore them. It's time to face the music and see how I spend so much of my time.

To do this I did a data driven project over the last month and manually recorded the data from my iPhone 13 into google sheets.

You can take a look at the data gathered below.

After collecting a months worth of data I did some descriptive analytics and this helped me see my usage and habits when using my phone.

I learned that I spend A LOT of time streaming movies or shows. My average streaming time per week is 20 hours. I learned that a majority of this time is on weekends when I'm not working. It was an eye opener but when looking at the cost break down I learned I'm spending about very little per hour for streaming service. Basically I am always in need of noise and addicted to my shows.

On the opposite end of the spectrum I am only spending about 1 hour on Linkedin and Medium. I am now planning on moving 2 hours from my streaming time to focus more on building my knowledge base and network through those two services.

I found some other great insights to help me see my screen time trends. Check out the summary in this dashboard.
